Antique French Glass Domes

Glass domes were first used in Italy in the early 1600s as a covering for garden plants to prevent frost damage and to promote early growth. Traditionally used to display fine and exquisite collections of natural wonders such as plants and mosses, rare corals, shells and butterflies or luxury jewellery and keepsakes, in recent times they have also been used in new and inventive ways such as the display of rare books, vintage ephemera, photo’s, bottles. curios..and the list goes on. These  beautiful antique French  glass domes are extremely rare and collectible. Circa 1800’s they each have original wooden stands and fine hand-blown glass domes.
