Antique Treen Bowls

Treen, literally of a tree is a generic name for small handmade functional household objects made of wood before the introduction of metals and later plastics, for everyday and decorative objects. Dating to the 19th Century, these antique English elm timber bowls were once used as dairy bowls for milk, cream and butter. Hand-turned they both have age and warmth to the elm timbers. Today, treen is highly collectable for its beautiful patina, tactile appeal and decorative qualities.  Re-purpose as a fruit bowl perhaps or simply as a piece of hand-made art.
