Display Tactics
Ever wondered what it takes to transport our highly desirable industrial, antique & decorative objects from Europe to our Sydney based bricks & mortar store? Take a Behind The Scenes look, from the unpacking of a 40 foot shipping container to the clever display tactics used to get the store in order and ready for business.
Some may think it’s a glamorous life owning an antique store. Traveling to Europe, staying in beautiful locations, drinking wine & eating great food! Trust us, it’s totally different to what you may imagine. Take deliveries, for instance. With a 5.45am delivery of our 40ft container, packed to the rafters (or rather the container ceiling) with Leanne’s most recent finds from Europe, America & England. With only street light and torches the 9 strong team of packers (or rather un-packers) get to work before the rest of the Darling Street residents start their day!
Never one to worry about the weight of the large scale antique & industrial finds, Leanne leaves it up to the team of guys to carefully & strategically move the pieces from the container to the shop floor. After all, she can’t do everything, right?
Carefully packed by a team of packers in France & England, it’s now up to the quintessential team to unwrap over 300 individual items. A trip to the local recycling tip is always in order to dispose of the timber crates, boxes, and paper!
After a full 10 hours of unpacking & sorting, we get to work the following day implementing what we like to call Display Tactics! Working with our talented styling team, the retail team spend the next 48 hours carefully editing & curating a selection of the new shipment goods onto the shop floor and create two beautiful & well considered window displays.
Always eager to create inviting and creative displays, you will often find much of our product suspended from walls and the ceiling!
From suspending French racing bicycles to hanging chairs, lights & wall-art, our display tactics are always well considered, thoughtful & fun!
