Best of The Interior Journal 2016
Looking back on all our blog posts during 2016 at quintessential duckeggBLUE, it feels a little like we’ve gone back to the beginning…..and here we are again in summer! Delicious food and lazy days in the sun (perhaps not in Provence but lovely nonetheless!!) Here’s a little recap on all of our favourite things and blog moments from this past year….. Enjoy.
It started with the humble bread board and a slice of toast & jam! We had a huge collection of lovely French bread boards that Leanne sourced from the Alps region; our love affair for these beautiful original boards will continue into 2017.
Speaking of love affairs the Club Chair is probably one of our most enduring finds, and is always on Leanne’s wish list while she travels through Europe in the hope of hunting down a classic leather chair. In this ever so popular blog post we showed how versatile and contemporary this covetable chair can be. So whilst still retaining some its masculine associations… mens clubs, late nights, whiskey and cigars etc!.. we also showed the most modern of display tactics with this design classic.
Found objects that have exceptional craftsmanship will always have timeless appeal and emotional value, and will be at home in a variety of interior environments and styles.
Like copper for instance! Such an ancient material that is just as at home in a rustic French farmhouse kitchen as it is in the most contemporary interior.
We really enjoyed showcasing through visual inspiration how beautiful found antiques and decorative objects absolutely lift and add depth & character to even the most minimalist of home environments.
We also showcased our obsession with a pared back industrial aesthetic which included everything from lighting, ladders, seating, industrial shades,
Original Jielde lights, tolix chairs, mannequins…. maybe a pair of dolls legs here and there!
Mainly we just enjoyed featuring exceptional interiors and interesting found objects….and by special we could mean the most exquisite of Demijohns….
…….to the quirkiest of signs and vintage typography (after all, who doesn’t love typography) .
And here we are, full circle and back in the sun dining on with vintage benches in true quintessential festive style!
So, here’s to raising a glass of bubbles to long lazy summer days! And if you’re feeling in the mood to recap on the year at quintessential duckeggBLUE why not browse all our past years inspirational blogs here
