Antique English Pine Settle

Price: $2500 (originally $3900)

This original English pine settle dates to the early 19th century, circa 1830s. Found and reclaimed in East Sussex, the settle shares with the chest and the chair the distinction of great antiquity. Its high barrel-back shape served as a protection from the draughts of buildings, protection which was sometimes increased by the addition of winged ends. Most frequently placed near the fire in the common sitting-rooms, this piece has spent the past 100 plus years in an English country tavern.  Of solid construction and with the most beautiful age & patina to the timbers.  A superb example of English history.
