A late and rather splendid late 19th century metamorphic folding book shelf / table.  From the maker, The Canadian, this book shelf / table would once have been used by an architect.  Constructed from solid oak shelves and a cast iron frame, it is in superb condition.  Easily converting to either staggered shelves (perfect for display) or completely converted flat to form a table, this ingenious piece is both highly practical as well as being decorative and rather handsome.   With beautiful hues to the oak timbers, this metamorphic folding book shelf / table makes for a rather interesting piece of furniture.
