French Oak 18th Century Coffer

18th Century, circa late 1790s, French provincial oak timber blanket box or coffer as often referred to as.  This lovely original coffer is solid antique oak, with a beautiful colour and patina to the timbers.  Traditionally made with pegged joints and clean simple lines to the design.  An internal brass hinge has been added at a later date which ensures the lid stays open hands free when you are accessing the contents.  Both beautiful and practical, this piece of French furniture is perfect for storage at the end of a bed, or positioned behind a couch or as a coffee table perhaps. Excellent condition for age.
