Antique colonial cedar secretaire bookcase, Australia circa 1870s of excellent quality.  Constructed from solid cedar timbers, this fine example offers a glass encased bookcase, a writing desk and a lower shelved cupboard.  Separating into 3 pieces: a removable moulded cornice sits above a pair of original glass doors which enclose 3 adjustable shelves (all with a decorative leather trim), the enclosed glass door bookcase offers ample storage for book lovers!  The secretaire drop front drawer reveals a very well fitted area with the original tooled leather writing surface along with 5 individual drawers and 9 pigeon hole compartments.  A pair of carved paneled doors below open to reveal a single shelved cupboard, while standing on a plinth base. Original locks & keys. With the most beautiful warm hues to the cedar timbers, this colonial cedar bookcase is an absolute joy.
